You can now control the desktop AI tool from OpenAI using your iOS or Android phone. OpenAI will allow users to access Codex, its AI tool for writing code and managing apps, through the ChatGPT mobile app. In response to the rise of Anthropic’s Claude Code, OpenAI has focused efforts on catching up, cutting back on other projects and emphasizing enterprise growth. This initiative includes a major Codex update that enables app operations on macOS, aiming to create a desktop “superapp.” Codex in the ChatGPT app lets users direct desktop tasks through their phones, with real-time updates on outputs and approvals. This feature previews now for all ChatGPT plans on iOS and Android.
