Uber is expanding its app to include hotel bookings through a partnership with Expedia, with plans to add Vrbo home rentals later this year. This development was announced during Uber’s Go/Get product event, highlighting new travel-related features. Uber will integrate over 700,000 hotels worldwide and offer Uber One subscribers extra discounts and points for bookings with particular hotel chains. To make the process seamless, Uber has used Expedia’s API and tailored the integration to fit its app design. The expansion aims to enhance user experience by building a more comprehensive travel tool, including booking rides, ordering food, and now securing accommodation. Additionally, Uber plans to introduce a new travel mode for airport navigation, city guides, and European bookings for boat rides. Other new features include an on-the-go snack service for Uber Black and SUV users, “Shop for Me” purchasing requests, and AI-powered search functions for booking vehicles. While Uber has yet to venture into air travel, it is focused on perfecting the current offerings.
